Super Tuning a Detector

I am sure some of you guys on this forum know about Super Tuning a detector, but I only learned about it last night while looking for tips on using my brown box Eldorado. Super Tuning is performing a ground balance on your detector per the manual, then switching to DISC mode and cranking the THRESHOLD knob all of the way clock wise. This morning while hunting an old school yard, I tried the super tune trick and WOW what a difference. I would find a target and the only knob that I would adjust would be the threshold knob, I could make every target go from a slight peep to blowing my head phones off. I dug a pencil eraser cap at 4 inches deep, I dug a penny at 6 inches deep, that was under tree roots, the Eldo would bark loud and clear everytime the coil passed over the penny. I wounder how many other detectors can be super tuned using the threshold knob in the DISC mode, I also wonder how many keepers I passed over, because I did not hear them. Tom(AZ)
